Before I started Legacies to Remember, I watched my grandparents' lives change drastically because of declining health. This required my family to learn a lot about caring for them and the resources that were available in our community.

Below are several national and St. Louis area websites that offer countless resources for families. While it is my mission to preserve people's life stories, I am equally passionate about the quality of life for seniors and the families who care for them.

The National Family Caregivers Association educates, supports, empowers and speaks up for the more than 50 million Americans who care for loved ones with a chronic illness or disability or the frailties of old age. NFCA reaches across the boundaries of diagnoses, relationships and life stages to help transform family caregivers' lives by removing barriers to health and well being.

Family Caregiver Alliance - www.caregiver.org

Caregiver.com - www.caregiver.com
This website includes topic specific newsletters, online discussion lists, back issue articles of Today's Caregiver magazine, chat rooms and an online store. It is produced by Caregiver Media Group. The group's products are all developed for caregivers, about caregivers and by caregivers.

BJC Home Care Services - www.bjchomecare.org
BJC Home Care services more than 25 counties and Missouri and Illinois. There are dozens of wonderful home care and hospice organizations in the St. Louis area. However, BJC Hospice personally helped our family and my grandfather through his dying process and we are forever grateful for its services. The non-profit organization offers numerous quality programs for families with all types of needs.

Alzheimer's Association - www.alz.org
St. Louis Chapter - www.alzstl.org

The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. Its mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. The Alzheimer's Association also helped my family throughout the progression of my grandfather's disease. It is a wonderful organization and I encourage any family experiencing the effects of this disease to take advantage of the non-profit's vast number of programs.
